Malibu Creek has certainly proven to be the hot spot for engagement sessions this wedding season, but you’ll hear no complaints from me, since it’s one of my favorite backdrops. Getting to shoot Norma and JR’s engagement photos there last week was such a blast – the love these two have for one another is undeniable. Together for ten years, they are finally walking down the aisle and I couldn’t be happier to be capturing their big day!

Originally meeting in the 90’s, Norma and JR were neighbors who would hang out as kids and go to each other’s house parties and family gatherings. After a few years, JR’s family moved away and the two lost touch for a while. Reconnecting years later via MySpace, it was all because Norma spent hours one night searching for JR online until she found him and messaged him. They began dating shortly after and have been together ever since! Together for ten years, these lovebirds have also been engaged for seven, with JR popping the question at an exotic wild animal park (since Norma LOVES animals – specifically big cats). After Norma got to pet and play with a mountain lion, which was her absolute favorite part, JR pulled out a piece of paper and, at first (to throw her off), got down on both knees and started to read to her. As he continued reading, she realized it was a poem he had written and before she knew it, the love of her life was in front of her on one knee, asking her to marry him. Happily engaged and living together for seven years now, Norma recently finished graduate school and they are ready to tie the knot and start a family!

I think it’s safe to say I’m not the only one who’s super excited for Norma and JR’s wedding in November!
